Matching Universal ColorLogic to other existing pool and spa lights

When installing a Universal ColorLogic light into a pool with other existing lights, the desire is to match the color and intensity with the other lights in the pool for consistency.  Here’s how.

Universal ColorLogic is designed to operate in four modes:

Universal ColorLogic (default setting) – Use this mode for new installations and for installations with other Universal ColorLogic/CrystaLogic lights

ColorLogic 4.0 – Use this mode when installing your new light in a pool with ColorLogic 4.0 lights. Universal ColorLogic light will appear as another ColorLogic 4.0 light and will operate the same.

ColorLogic 2.5 – Use this mode when installing your new light in a pool with ColorLogic 2.5 or previous versions.  Universal ColorLogic light will appear as another ColorLogic 2.5 light and will operate the same.

Pentair SAm – Use this mode when installing your new light in a pool with Pentair SAm® or SAL® lights. Universal ColorLogic light will appear as another SAm or SAL light and will operate the same.

How to change modes:

1. Turn on lights and then turn off for between 11-15 seconds
2. Turn on lights and then turn off for between 11-15 seconds
3. Turn on lights and then turn off for between 11-15 seconds
4. The light will blink 1 of 4 colors indicating which mode it is currently in. Refer to the table below to determine which mode you’re in. Note that new lights are shipped in Universal ColorLogic mode (blinking red)

Mode Color
Universal ColorLogic Red
ColorLogic 4.0 Green
ColorLogic 2.5 Blue
Pentair SAm or SAL White

5. To change modes, turn light off and back on. The light will then advance to the next mode. Continue this method until you arrive at the desired mode
6. When the light is in the desired mode, remove power from the lights for at least one minute
7. The light will restart in the new mode the next time it is turned on

When in Universal ColorLogic mode (default), Universal ColorLogic can display 17 different programs; 10 fixed colors and 7 color-changing shows. These programs are advanced using power-cycling (quickly powering the lights on, then off, then back on).

Replacing old incandescent lights with LED made easy and profitable!

How to replace a 120V pool or spa light with 12V Universal ColorLogic LED lights

Before you begin, check out this quick start, pre-installation check list.

□      Existing pool or spa light operate on 120V
□      There is a dedicated junction box for the pool or spa light
□      A suitable transformer retrofit kit is available (see web site)
□      Niche has been installed per NEC (National Electric Codes)
□      Niche is compatible with new Universal ColorLogic (see web site)
□      You have the following tools: wire cutters or sheers, duct tape, Phillips head screwdriver
□      You understand NEC are qualified to work on electrical wiring
□      You have read the Universal ColorLogic Installation Manual.  This list is meant just to give you an idea of the simplicity of the install.  Follow the complete set of instructions in the Universal ColorLogic installation manual.

Step 1: Remove power to the pool and spa lighting at the service panel
Step 2: Detach light being replaced
Step 3: Cut cord to the existing light
Step 4: Dry cord ends and tape to replacement light
Step 5: Snake cord through conduit
Step 6: Install light to niche
Step 7: Install and wire junction box transformer
Step 8: Install trim ring

On Lighting – to ground or not to ground?

Hayward’s new Universal ColorLogic color LED pool and spa lighting isn’t just UL-approved to be installed in virtually any manufacturer’s niche, they’re also UL approved for installation without bonding, grounding or a GFCI.  Their all-plastic, 12V, 2-wire design combined with the new all-plastic Thin Niche eliminates the need for bonding, grounding and GFCI.  That’s right – when used with Thin Niche, not only can these lights be installed in virtually any manufacturer’s niche, they don’t need bonding, grounding or GFCI and they’re completely safe.  UL says so by giving Universal ColorLogic lights their stamp of approval.

Hayward unveils the first and only white LED light UL approved for safe installation in virtually any niche.

That’s right, virtually ANY niche!  Hayward’s new Universal CrystaLogic™ is the most brilliant and versatile lighting for commercial pools and spas.

 

This breakthrough design combines all the very latest high performance LED and advanced polymer technology to deliver extraordinary lumen per watt energy efficiency and associated long lifetime cost benefits. The unique 12V, all-plastic light and niche design eliminates the need for bond, ground wire and GFCI. Hayward unveils the first LED light UL approved for safe installation in virtually any niche.

 

That’s right, virtually ANY niche!  Hayward’s new Universal ColorLogic is the first and only color LED pool and spa light bright enough to properly illuminate the millions of pools with just one light. 

 

 

 

At least one hundred percent brighter than any LED pool light on the market, these highly energy-efficient, lights will deliver spectacular color while replacing that conventional single incandescent light under the diving board.  “This is a true breakthrough in pool lighting. Delivering spectacular color to pools with a single light or to pools with colored finishes has always been a major challenge.” said Hayward Vice President of Product Management, Kevin Potucek. “The industry has been asking for a solution since the advent of color pool lighting over a decade ago.
